Vintage Biddeford: Postcard Views
September 11 @ 7:00 pm
Join us for an evening with not one, but two historians! Biddeford’s own Emma Bouthillette opens the evening with a reading of her story, “From the Clock Tower.” This piece imagines Biddeford’s rich history from the perspective of City Hall Clock Tower. This creative approach to history was commissioned by Heart of Biddeford as part of its “Vote Your Main Street” campaign hosted by Partners in Preservation. Then, we have the good fortune to have State Historian Earle Shettleworth, Jr. present Biddeford’s history and architecture through the unique lens of vintage postcards. Americans in the 1800s embraced the postcard as a way to send a quick note, and our city buildings and sites were popular subjects. Light refreshments served.
